Acupuncture helps stress, anxiety, depression, & insomnia.
It can feel like we lose ourselves just getting through each day and keeping our heads above water. Acupuncture is an effective and natural way to help with stress related problems and get yourself back on track.
Our bodies are hardwired to help us react to stressful events. At the first sign of a threat, whether real or perceived, our sympathetic nervous system kicks in and facilitates what is called the “fight or flight” response. Our heart rate increases, our pupils dilate, and our digestion temporarily shuts down redirecting blood to our extremities, so that if need be, we can either fight what is threatening us, or turn and run if the threat is too formidable.
Unfortunately, the “fight or flight” response, which worked well in caveman days, does not serve us as well if the “threat” is a demanding boss, nasty co-worker, or even a worrisome situation that is not being resolved. More often than not, stress in our lives is long-term, and as a result, we find ourselves in a constant state of “fight or flight”. Over time, this chronic state of stress can interfere with hormone and neurotransmitter levels in our body leaving us more vulnerable to anxiety, depression, insomnia, and other related problems.
How can Acupuncture & Chinese Medicine help with Stress, Anxiety, Depression, or Insomnia?
In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), a healthy person encompasses a balanced mind, body, and spirit. Understanding the connection between our emotions and physical health, as well as their roll in disease, is a significant component of Chinese Medicine. From a Western viewpoint, Acupuncture works by stimulating the central nervous system to help normalize hormone and neurotransmitter levels.
One of the great things about Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine is that we can work in conjunction with your doctor or therapist to enhance their treatment.
